Chrysler Uconnect headphone repair 68239856AB

After 3 months of usage one headphone stopped working. A search online shows a replacement cost of nearly $100. Time to take it apart and repair it.

To open the ear pieces you pry the headphone pads off from underneath. There are 4 plastic clips you can see the holes in my photo.

Next you remove the 3 screws with a T7 toro bit. Then pry and separate around the split line and it should come apart.

Inside i probed around and eventually was luck enough to find that one of the very fine braded wires seemed to be possibly shorting with some part of the circuit. I lifted the wires and the headset started working. I put some vinyl electrical tape down and that was it. I would recommend Kapton tape but I don’t have any at home.

I opened the other side and did the same thing. Actually I believe the trouble was on the non battery side but I only took a picture of this side. They look similar.
